How to Prepare and Send Your Products to Shoot Shoot Studio

Your Go-To Checklist for a Smooth and Successful Jewelry & Beauty Product Shoot

At Shoot Shoot, we specialize in high-end beauty and jewelry product photography—and we know that the magic starts long before the camera clicks.

To ensure your photos come out flawless and true to your brand, we need your help at the preparation stage. This guide walks you through everything you need to know to pack, label, and send your products like a pro.

1. Send Only Photogenic, Flawless Items

Before anything else: choose the most pristine samples available. Photography—especially macro or editorial—amplifies every detail. Even the smallest imperfection can become the focal point under studio lighting.

For jewelry, make sure:

  • No scratches, tarnish, or loose settings

  • Stones are secure and centered

  • Chains aren’t tangled or kinked

  • Clasps are functional and aligned

For beauty products, ensure:

  • No smudges, fingerprints, or residue

  • Caps and applicators are clean and snug

  • Labels are straight, centered, and aligned

  • Liquids are filled to desired visual levels

If defects are unavoidable (e.g., samples), please inform us in advance and mark them clearly when sending.

2. Include Empty Packaging for Beauty Products

We highly recommend sending:

  • One clean, unused product sample (for detailed macro/hero shots)

  • One empty version of each product’s packaging (for mock-ups, group shots, or stylized layout work)

Why empty packaging?
Empty units let us shoot from multiple angles or under harsh lighting without risking leakage or damage. They’re also easier to style dynamically without worrying about the content weight or label warping.

3. Provide Extra Texture for Swatches

If you want texture shots, such as cream smears, lipstick strokes, or powdered pigments:

Please send extra quantities (1–2 units more than needed), or separate texture-only samples. These will be used for:

  • Swatching and smearing

  • Pouring or dripping (for liquid formats)

  • Mixing with props or backgrounds

Don’t send us your only sample if you want it back looking untouched. Texture shots are typically non-reversible.

4. Label Everything Clearly

Include a printed list in your package, detailing:

  • Product name

  • Product code or SKU (if relevant)

  • Intended use (Hero shot / eCommerce / Texture / Swatch / Lifestyle)

  • Any known defects or issues

  • Special instructions, if any

If possible, use removable labels directly on product units or packaging to keep everything organized. Include sticky notes or masking tape for temporary tags.

5. Pack With Care

Beauty and jewelry products are delicate. Please take the time to:

  • Wrap each item individually (especially jewelry) in soft cloth, bubble wrap, or paper

  • Separate glass, liquid, and fragile containers

  • Cushion sharp edges or heavy items to prevent damage during transit

  • Use a sturdy box with tight packing to avoid shifting during shipping

For jewelry:
Avoid shipping items in tangled piles. Use small bags or compartments to prevent chains from knotting or scratching other pieces.

For beauty:
Avoid direct contact between products with sharp caps and softer bottles or tubes. Liquids should be taped shut or securely sealed.

6. Tell Us What’s Coming

Once your shipment is sent, email us:

  • The tracking number

  • A quick overview of what’s inside

  • Any last-minute notes or instructions

This ensures we’re ready to receive and process your products without delay.

7. Let Us Know If You Want Products Returned

If you’d like your products back, please:

  • Mention this during booking

  • Include a return shipping label or let us know how you’d like the return arranged

  • Be aware: products used for swatches or stylized hero shots may not return in original condition

Summary Checklist Before You Ship:

  • Selected flawless, photogenic items

  • Sent empty packaging for beauty where needed

  • Included extra units for swatches or texture shots

  • Labeled each item with purpose/notes
